Sound Work Worksheets
1. Blend and Write (38 worksheets)
These worksheets are designed to help your students learn how to blend sounds to form words. They provide your students with the opportunity to blend out the individual sounds in words and then practice splitting and graphing the words into graphemes. The sounds covered include short vowels, CVCe words, vowel teams, digraphs, blends, r-controlled vowels and diphthongs.
2. Sound Work (129 worksheets)
These Sound Work worksheets will be the most useful tool for your phonics programs! There are worksheets included for SO many sounds which means you’ll always have a go-to resource to supplement your students’ learning. The sounds covered include beginning alphabetic sounds, CVCe words, vowel teams, digraphs, trigraphs, blends, double consonants, r-controlled vowels and diphthongs.
The worksheets also vary in degree of difficulty; beginning alphabetic sounds and double consonants only have students paste the missing sound (rather than spell out the entire word) whereas all other sounds have students spell the entire word. Check out the preview for further explanation.
3. Map a Word (69 worksheets)
Get your students graphing phonemes/graphemes with these word mapping worksheets. These worksheets provide your students with the opportunity to tap out the sounds they can hear in a word and then graph them into the boxes.
The sounds covered include short vowels, CVCe words, vowel teams, digraphs, trigraphs, blends, double consonants, r-controlled vowels and diphthongs.
4. Heart Words (285+ worksheets)
These Heart Word worksheets are a research-backed way to teach your students how to read high frequency words. Memorization of sight words does not always work as a method of teaching sight words, in fact, most sight words can actually be sounded out! The heart word method reminds students which tricky parts of a word must be ‘remembered by heart’. Hearts are used for both irregular and untaught sounds.
